Entergy Unveils Improved Louisiana Site Selection Center
LouisianaSiteSelection.com was a landmark arrival in 2008. The site selection portal transformed the online search for business and industry sites by offering intelligent layers of data as well as customized searches. Nearly a decade later, the Louisiana Site Selection Center has unveiled a new frontier for geographic information system (GIS) tools.
Entergy Corp., which funded development of the original and enhanced sites, worked in partnership with Louisiana Economic Development and two-dozen other regional partners to revamp the exceptional site selection portal.
“Our commitment to growing the state’s economy stands firm, and we’re confident the new website will further position Louisiana as a serious contender for new opportunities.”
“We’re pleased to provide the new Site Selection Center to our economic development partners, as we know this dynamic platform will assist in driving viable businesses to Louisiana,” says Entergy Louisiana’s Director of Business Development Ed Jimenez. “Our commitment to growing the state’s economy stands firm, and we’re confident the new website will further position Louisiana as a serious contender for new opportunities.”
All In One: Certified Site Search and Property Management
Visitors to the new portal can easily access data about Louisiana’s commercial properties and discover a wealth of information customizable to their needs. The Louisiana Site Selection Center uses a combination of GIS technology, business analytics and demographic data to give users the ability to quickly access Louisiana’s available commercial sites and resources. The portal consists of an easy-to-use platform with robust search features and property management functionality. The result is a one-stop shop for professional site selection consultants, real estate brokers and businesses.
Dynamic Search Tools for Site Selectors
At the core of the Louisiana Site Selection Center is a property search feature that’s powered by ArcGIS mapping software, the most powerful mapping technology and spatial data analytics tool. The property search features a dynamic, map-based search that updates immediately when criteria are changed.
“Users are really going to love the property search function, which provides in-depth details and very granular information,” Jimenez says. “You can go in and search by sub-types and demographics. For example, let’s say you’re a chemical manufacturer that is looking for an industrial site with rail access and is near a port. Or, you want to show all warehouse/distribution buildings that are 50,000 to 80,000 square feet and have a population of 200,000 within a 45-minute drive time. The property search can go that deep and even alert you in the future if other properties meeting your criteria become available.”
Site Selection Gets Local
The portal also provides property analysis for FEMA flood zones, national wetland inventory, and topographic images. To enhance the user experience and provide an additional layer of detail, Entergy created community and municipal profile pages. In this section, local community leaders may access the site to include important information specific to their communities, such as local tax structure, recreation and quality of life features, government information, schools and education, and more.
“The community profile section is just another example of our goal to provide in-depth, relevant information and make the Site Selection Center a comprehensive tool for its users,” Jimenez says.
By October 2017, the website featured more than 1,400 registered users, 571 available building listings and 813 available sites.
