TCI Packaging To Conduct Career Fair For Port Of New Orleans Facility

NEW ORLEANS — TCI Packaging, a packaging, logistics and warehousing services provider, will conduct a career fair on Thursday, June 15, in Chalmette, Louisiana. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Arts, Sciences and Technology Building of Nunez Community College, 3710 Paris Road.

The company is hiring for the positions of certified forklift operators, CDL licensed mule drivers, production operators, maintenance mechanics, accounting professionals and customer service professionals for the company’s Port of New Orleans facility.

The positions pay $12 to $16 per hour. Full-time employees are eligible to participate in company benefits, including health, vision and dental care, long- and short-term insurance plans, the company’s 401(k) program and paid time-off benefits. The company is filling 25 positions at this time, with plans to fill an additional 30 positions by the end of 2017.

Interested candidates must be 18 years old or older and have a high school diploma or a GED certification or equivalent certificate. Some candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts and holidays. In order to be considered for positions, candidates must be able to work well with team members and be willing to take a drug test.  

LED FastStart® is providing support for the TCI job fair. In 2014, the State of Louisiana announced TCI Plastics would make a $36.5 million capital investment and create 160 new direct jobs at a new 500,000-square-foot logistics facility in the Port of New Orleans. TCI Plastics is supporting the export of major plastics produced by Louisiana chemical manufacturing companies located on the Mississippi River and elsewhere in the state.
