Louisiana Veteran Entrepreneurship Program

The Louisiana Veteran Entrepreneurship Program, a partnership between Louisiana Economic Development, the Louisiana Department of Veteran Affairs, the Louisiana National Guard, the Louisiana Business & Technology Center and LSU Executive Education is a program designed to boost business opportunities for Louisiana veterans.

Selected participants will take part in a three-week, online-learning program, followed by a face-to-face training session. This intensive model will outline critical steps to start, operate, fund and launch a business while giving veterans the tools needed to develop their business ideas. Training will include business planning, marketing, financing, capital formation and other aspects of business development.

Tentative topics include:

Three-week online course:

  • Value proposition
  • Customer segments
  • Competitor analysis
  • Market research
  • Distribution channels
  • Overview of small business finance

In-person business boot camp:

  • Veteran-specific initiatives
  • Government procurement assistance
  • Small business banking
  • Investor prep
  • Introduction to local assistance providers
Once veterans complete LVEP, they will be provided small business resources in their communities for follow-up support and small business counseling. Louisiana’s Small Business Development Centers, business incubators and other small business partners will be available for ongoing business coaching after completion of the program.
